In a testament to dedication and skill, Woodland FFA members achieved a remarkable feat by restoring a 1956 Cub Cadet lawn tractor found abandoned in Capay Valley, near the school. Over the course of two years, FFA member Jaxon Smee spearheaded the restoration efforts. Starting as a pile of rusted parts, the tractor was transformed through sheer determination and hard work.
Jaxon, working tirelessly, had to fabricate parts, meticulously paint the tractor with automotive precision, consult manuals, and overcome various hurdles. His perseverance paid off when he successfully sold the beautifully restored tractor at the Yolo County Fair's Ag Mechanics Auction, receiving a well-deserved $2,500 check. The tractor will now serve a new purpose, aiding its buyer with chores around the property.
Woodland FFA advisor, Eric Dyer, commented on the achievement, saying, "This project took a tremendous amount of dedication and teamwork. It's an example of the types of industry skills our students are gaining in FFA programs that will help them be successful in their future."
Jaxon's journey not only brought new life to a neglected machine but also paved the way for his own aspirations, as he considers a career in mechanics, machining, or even serving in the U.S. military. Congratulations to Jaxon and the entire Woodland FFA team for this outstanding achievement!
