This year we will redefine our association, redefine our standards and redefine our goals through California FFA. This year’s theme—REDEFINE—can be witnessed through every aspect of the FFA, including our transition to state FFA officers.
Since moving into the state officer dorms in June, our officer team has been busy doing everything possible to be the best versions of ourselves for the 99,000 California FFA members we serve. The preparation began with National FFA’s State Officer Base Camp training, facilitated by past national officers and held at the FFA Center in Galt. This experience focused on redefining ourselves, as we grow in areas such as sound character, positive influence, professionalism and time management. Our team also attended the 2022 State Officer Summit, a three-day training experience focused on serving as an advocate for agriculture and FFA, as well as developing clear and consistent messages related to agriculture and FFA. This experience included visits with five U.S. Representatives and Senators for California. We touched on topics such as the reauthorization of the Farm Bill, the importance of Career Technical Education and joining the newly established FFA Caucus.
We’ve also been preparing for the 2022-2023 Regional Officers Leadership Conference, where regional officers have the opportunity to learn premier leadership skills, as well as participate in agricultural tours to better understand and appreciate the industry.
Our state officer team can’t wait to meet more FFA members across the state. We had our first opportunity on July 15, when 30 FFA members from local chapters visited the FFA Center. This year is off to a great start and you can rest assured that the 2022-2023 state officers are working towards progress within our organization and our state.
