94th State FFA Leadership Conference: Closing Session Recap

SACRAMENTO, March 28, 2022 — Future Farmers of America (FFA) members and supporters from across the state of California returned to the Golden 1 Center for the closing session of the 94th State FFA Leadership Conference in Sacramento.

FFA State President Marc Cabeliza gave his retiring address and reflected on the importance of being a teammate and making others feel like they belong.

“We don't have to make a big and grand gesture to show others that we care,” Cabeliza said. “It’s not hard to appreciate the people in our lives.”

“We can be a teammate to anyone in our lives. So what is stopping you? I’m sure you know the golden rule: treat others as you would like to be treated.”

Students from Elk Grove, Menifee, Durham, Temecula, Holtville, and Hilmar were elected by delegates to serve as 2022-23 State FFA Officers. The officer team is as follows:

  • President: Abigale Jacobsen, Elk Grove FFA
  • Vice President: Landon Hendricks, Menifee-Heritage FFA
  • Secretary: Hunter Haslem, Durham FFA
  • Treasurer: Brian Kavanagh, Temecula-Saint Jeanne FFA
  • Reporter: Melanie Orozco, Holtville FFA
  • Sentinel: Morgan Oliveira, Hilmar FFA

The 2021-2022 officer team was honored and they retired their state officer jackets after their year of service. State Advisor Hugh Mooney gave remarks and told stories about each officer.

Natalia Crane was voted on by her peers at the FFA Talent Winner. After being awarded the prize, Crane gave an encore performance to all attendees.

Lastly, the Hall of Chapters Award was given to Bakersfield-Highland FFA, the State Executive Committee was honored and thanked for their service, and state officer parents and past state officer teams were recognized.

The 95th California FFA State Leadership Conference will be held in Ontario, California on March 16-19, 2023.
